can you crop the ears of a dalmation?
I plain on getting a dalmation soon and i want her to stand out so i was thinking about cropping her ears or docking her tail. can you do that?
if it’s not okay then why do dog-owners crop the ears of a doberman a shnoozer( sorry if i miss spelled that) a boxer and a Great-dane
to the obsessive dog lover
you people need to chill out, it was just a question! damn! I just don’t see why not a dalmatian is just
as k9 as a doberman a shoozer or a boxer. they are all dogs. why should there be a rule on what dog you can crop or dock? that makes no sense it’s just a dog! breed standards are all opinion it’s not the law and your opinion or weather the dalmatian will look good or not is totally opinion..not fact!
so until someone gives me a real fact and not a opinion i do not want to hear it..or see it lol
AND I”M ONLY 14 THOSE MEAN THINGS YOUSAIDD LIKE REALLY HURT =(
I JUST WANTED A DOG WHO STANDARD OUT LIKE ME DON’T HAVE TO BE JERKS ABOUT IT
No, you can’t. Not only would ear-cropping be ridiculous and cruel in a Dalmatian, I doubt the ears would ever stand no matter what you did.
You may have noticed that none of the breeds that are sometimes cropped have drop ears naturally (hanging). They all have rose or half-prick ears, meaning they are carried slightly up and away from the body even when they are natural. This is why you can post and tape them to get them all the way up.
A Dalmatian, on the other hand, has a drop ear. Really doubt the ears would stand no matter what you did to them.
There’s no reason to dock a Dalmatian’s tail and by the time you get the dog, it will be far too old.
ETA: If you want the dog to stand out, why not train him really well? Teach him some tricks, get a canine Good Citizen Certification, maybe get involved in a canine sport like Agility or Flyball. Trust me, a well-behaved, well-trained dog of any breed always stands out, and you’ll feel great about your dog! If you can bring home a few ribbons, even better. There are many ways to stand out!
