What can happen if you eat undercooked bratwurst?
The bratwurst was boiled for 10 minutes then cooked on med high for like 15. It was brown on the outside but slightly pink in the middle….
After all that cooking, I’m surprised it was slightly pink inside. Most likely nothing major will happen to you. I know, all the talk about tapeworks and undercooked pork make you nervous, but honestly it’s really rare to see that in developed countries anymore. Your biggest concern would be a food poisoning, and that makes itself apparent usually within hours of eating. Sausages in particular usually contain enough salt to prevent the growth of most organisms that cause problems, fortunately. And some of the preservatives added to them also can leave them with a pink look, even though they are fully cooked. It’s the nitrates that make the meat stay pink or red- regardless of the cooking. I recommend just relaxing a bit, you will more than likely be fine. I don’t recommend eating raw sausage, or even nearly cooked sausage on a regular basis- but a tad bit of pink isn’t going to kill you.
